    There will be two shows with the first starting at 9:30pm and the second starting at 10:00pm

    Because of the limited space in the dome, you must have a reservation to come to this showing. We will begin taking reservations for this viewing on Monday, April 1st at 2:00pm with our online reservation system.

    The observatory is located at the top of the Physics building. To get to the observatory take the elevator to the 4th floor. A guide will meet you on the 4th floor and direct your group to the stairway that leads to the observatory. As the weather can be unpredictable, we might not know whether a viewing will be possible until shortly before the event begins.

    We will be hosting three observatory viewings during Fall 2018:

    September 7, 2018 9:00-10:00 pm
    If the skies are clear, we will be looking at Jupiter and Saturn.

    October 12, 2018 8:00-9:00 pm
    If the skies are clear, we will be looking at the crescent Moon, Saturn, and Mars.

    November 2, 2018 8:00-9:00 pm
    If the skies are clear, we will be looking at Saturn and Mars.

    We will begin taking reservations for all three observatory viewings this fall on Tuesday, August 14 at 12:00 pm noon. Request a reservation at https://www.physast.uga.edu/reservations.

If the weather is cloudy, then Dr. Loris Magnani will give a lecture in the physics auditorium (room 202). The topic of his lecture will be "The Gas and Dust in the Milky Way".  

    If the sky is clear, then visitors should go to the 4th floor of the Physics Building, where they will ascend the staircase that leads to the dome. Visitors do not need to arrive exactly at 8:00pm or before 8:00pm -- we will be open during the whole 8:00pm to 9:30pm timeframe.

If the weather is clear, then we will use the 24 inch telescope in the dome on top of the building to see the sky, especially Jupiter. If the weather is cloudy, then Dr. Loris Magnani will give a lecture in the physics auditorium (room 202). The topic of his lecture will be "The Dark Side of Astronomy:  Dark Energy and Dark Matter".  

    If the sky is clear, then visitors should go to the 4th floor of the Physics Building, where they will ascend the staircase that leads to the dome. Visitors do not need to arrive exactly at 8:30pm or before 8:30pm -- we will be open during the whole 8:30pm to 10:00pm timeframe.
