Observatory Open House
Thursday, November 17, 2011 7:00 pm
Location: Observatory dome and roof atop the Physics BuildingNote the switch to a Thursday night. Not only will Jupiter and Andromeda be in the night sky, but again, we have the coincidence of a meteor shower. This time, it is the Leonids, which will peak later in the night/following morning. It is best viewed from darker locations outside the city and later in the night, but lucky visitors to the Observatory Open House might glimps a meteor.

Friday, October 21, 2011 8:30 pm
Location: Observatory dome and roof atop the Physics BuildingIf the skies are clear, then we will be able to see the planet Jupiter, the large galaxy Andromeda, and a myriad of stars and constellations. Coincidentally, the Orionid meteor
shower will peak on the night of the 21st. It is best viewed from darker locations outside the city and later in the night, but lucky visitors to the Observatory Open House might glimps a meteor. -
Observatory Open House
Friday, September 23, 2011 9:00 pm
Location: Observatory dome and roof atop the Physics BuildingIf the skies are clear, we will be able to see various constellations and will use the telescopes to look at interesting stars, such as Albireo, a set of 2 stars in the constellation of Cygnus. If the skies are cloudy, then Dr. Scott Shaw will give a talk on Dark Matter in the main lecture hall (Room 202 in the Physics Building).
