Welcome to Tho Nguyen Group
The Nguyen Group focuses on various fundamental spintronic related issues including spin injection, transport and dynamics in π-conjugated organic semiconductors and organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites, magnetism in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides, magneto-plasmonic lattices, and magnet-based metal hydrides. For applications, we are working on improving the performance of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells and organic light-emitting diodes using thermally activated delayed fluorescence materials.

10 March 2023: Our lastest work on Hydrogen gas sensor has been published on Nano Energy. In this report, a hexagonally-packed array of magnetic nano-caps (or nano-patches, NP) exhibiting unique magnetic anisotropy and optimal nanostructure for fast hydrogen kinetics is explored as a sensing element for the spark-free magnetic-circular-dichroism (MCD) H2 sensor. The MCD H2 sensor outperforms the state-of-the-art optical sensors reported to date and satisfies the most challenging performance targets imposed by US Department of Energy. The MCD nano-cap sensor platform may have a great impact on the future deployment of H2 fuel, environmental monitoring H2 sensors, and fast proton-based magneto-ionic devices.
