SUMMARY:"Particle Physics" for Today's (Geo)Archaeology -- Ervan Garrison
DESCRIPTION:Departmental Colloquium. The sub-discipline of archaeological geology aka geoarchaeology" makes use of several analytical tools based on many "particles" more common to physical inquiry. These include protons, neutrons, electrons (a close cousin - Muons) and high energy photons (x and gamma "rays").
This talk is a brief survey of the utility of these particles for answering archaeological questions with instruments in earth science departments.
